Well, if your answer is yes, I guess you want the same for your furry friend, and you want to know if he/she can eat fruits in general and in this case mango in particular.
Well, I don’t have to tell you that fruits in general are without a doubt vital to your body to not only stay healthy, as far more help you to drop fat if eat and incorporate in a daily diet, if you want to lose fat, of course.
However, if mango actually is simple as beneficial for your cat and if he/she profits and can eat mango as much as you can, I am going to cover and answer in this article.
But before I give you a simple yes or no answer, I want to dig deeper and tell you what benefits mangoes have and why or why not a cat also benefits from this fruit. The reason being is, cats are carnivore which means they first of all need proteins in their daily diet. So, please do not try to make your cat a vegetarian just because you might happen to be one. You would not make your cat a happy cat, because this is against her nature and the way he/she would live in the wilderness. A cat would not prey mangoes if he/she would not have been domesticated as much more would have to survive in the wilderness and needs to meet her necessary protein level to stay alive.
His/her diet needs to be balanced to meet the requirements to be the best version of him/herself to maintain the right of nutritious well-balanced low calories and high energy to fulfill their necessary diet.
These are the topics I am going to cover in this article.
What are the Benefits of a Mango?
Can Cats Eat Mango and if so, how much and in what form can I feed it to him/her so he/she benefits best from it?
If it happens to be healthy for a cat why should you feed a cat mangoes?
To sweeten the fruit even more here are numeral facts why mangoes are such nutritional powerhouse.
- 105 calories
- 76 percent vitamin C (antioxidant and immune booster)
- 25 percent vitamin A (antioxidant and vision)
- 11 percent vitamin B6 plus other B vitamins (hormone production in brain and heart disease prevention)

- As a little side note here
I do not recommend you to eat the mango skin.
The skin contains urushiol. This you can also find in poison ivy and poison oak. If you are sensitive to the cupid, eating mango skin can cause a nasty reaction.
As you can see the mango is definitely loaded with a lot of nutritious vitamins that makes the mango a definite health asset in your daily diet. Why not even go so far and replace one meal a day with only eat mangoes. Let’s say 4 mangoes instead of another dish. One mango contains 135 calories. Therefore 3 mangoes have more or less 400 calories.
Now, after I gave the health benefits of a mango, let’s see if the cat actually benefits from eating mangoes too.
What might be a good way to feed Mangoes to a cat?
So, but if you are going to start treating your cat with mangoes, make sure you do not overfeed him/her. With not overfeeding I mean not more than just a few bites (or cubes when you happen to cut the mango in such.
You know a cat’s digestive system is not constructed as for huge amounts of mangoes of food in general and since the mango is just a supplementary treat to his/her daily diet even less. Additionally if you overfeed a cat with mango, he/she might end up with diarrhea.
If you like the idea of treating your cat the nutritious way possible, why not cook your furry feline his/her meal which you can mix with mangoes. If you are interested and like the idea, this is a link to a book which contains a lot of rich nutritious cat recipes ( amazon link) or you can also click on this link which will lead you to a store where you can buy cans with a mix of chicken and mango
Of course, this would not be a treat, as much more a regular meal in your cats daily diet.
What Are the Benefits for a cat to feed him/her mango?
- There are quite a few benefits that are equal to the benefits for a human being. The benefits are:
- •The Vitamin A helps the immune system to ensure your cat stays active and doesn’t get sick easily.
- •The Vitamin B6 helps the cat’s body to absorb the protein. Usually, cats eat raw meat, ergo, if you add a small quantity of mango to the meat you create a nutritious power meal with all the essential necessity nutrients a cat needs.
- •Mangoes content of low calories which allows you to control the cat’s weight without much effort.
I do want to underline the fact that your cat might not even like mangoes or any other fruit you might think benefits him/her to intake essential vitamins. This is totally fine. Like mentioned already, if your cat would live in the wilderness and would have to prey his/her food he/she would certainly not come up with the idea: “Oh, today is mango day let me go on mango hunt instead of hunting mice”. But, on the other hand if he/she happens to like the fruit, perfect! Nurture it but in small quantities, of course.
